Jake Barker

Barker Tech is exceptional. The owner, Jake Barker, is very responsive and has consistently shown tremendous concern about my satisfaction with his team and his work (which is always exemplary). Jake designed and implemented a multi-zone Sonos-based music system throughout our entire house as well a 7.1 home theater system. He's also done significant work optimizing our home surveillance and IT systems. He talked me through all of his recommendations at each step and, once approved, executed the project with great care. We've done significant remodeling work and Jake and his team are far and away the most conscientious of anyone we've engaged on our various projects. I can't thank Jake enough for his work and consistently recommend him to all of my friends. Barker Tech is outstanding across the board.

Jake is the best. Did the av + internet system for my whole house. Sonos, solid ubiquiti home network (wifi and wired) , security cameras and a great projector and tv setup. His folks were super professional, really great attention to detail and just quality work all around. Highly recommended !!!

We reached out to Jake and team to setup network (running fiber), home automation, and security for our home, as well as to clean up a bunch of issues we had with our automatic blinds and wiring. Jake was super responsive in getting a quote to us for all the work, and he and his team are extremely detail oriented. Because we had some unusual blind hardware, they came back for a few visits until they made sure all the automations were working correctly and they personally weren't satisfied until the responsiveness of all the automations was super fast. Even a few weeks after they were done, we were experiencing some WiFi slowness in one part of the house and Jake quickly tuned the network. Highly, highly recommend Jake and his team if you want top-notch hardware (Ubiquiti), customer support, and attention to detail. They are truly the experts in this space.

We just did a full house remodel project with Jake, which included running ethernet cables, setting up a Ubiquity networking stack with multiple APs, and Unifi cameras. We also mounted TVs, in-ceiling speakers and set up a Sonos system. Overall, our experience with Jake was top notch. He is incredibly detail oriented and cares about getting everything just right. Starting from designing the system, to getting things installed during construction, and then setting up and configuring everything, I'd say every single step was extremely well thought out, communicated and executed. Jake's crew is also super competent - they care about getting details right and really making sure things are done properly - no half measures here. Jake and team might not be the cheapest option around, but I'd say they are worth it. We've dealt with a lot of crews and subcontractors during the remodel, and Jake and team really stand out in terms of how competent and professional they are. Couldn't recommend them more highly!

Jake came over to inspect our older Ubiquity home networking system because we experienced random end-point outages, less than optimal performance and needed to upgrade our security and firewall capability. He very quickly diagnosed some of the issues with the old system and proposed upgrades (replacing the old firewall with a new UDM and replacing old Ubiquity end-points ). We hired him on the spot because we felt that he understood the issues quicker than other specialists who inspect the system, and also was more pragmatic with the solution that he offered. The resulting system is almost 10 times faster in download speed (apparently related to wrong wiring). Download speed is still quite low -- but apparently this is a Comcast issue. He also came up with amazing fix for an annoying issue with our home theater system - he set us up to use our phones as the remote! He also diagnosed an issue with one of the outdoors speakers in Sonos system. We would highly recommend Jake.

Jake responded in a very timely manner to our email. He quickly diagnosed the problem from. our communications and came prepared to solve the problem. Our ubiquity server/wifi went down and he not only fixed the problem (on a Sunday) but also made sure all of our wireless access points were functioning properly, along with all connected devices (smart tvs, Sonos, ring system etc). He had some ideas to improve the system and reviewed with us. He and his associate, Wilson, were incredibly efficient, careful in the way they treated our house and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. It is how you wish every person that provides a service acted. Can't say enough good things.

Jake and his team were great. I asked him to come by and advise on how to setup our 2 story house for wired ethernet to support solid wifi in every room, wifi outside in the yard, and security cameras with local storage. I had setup my previous house by myself using a Unifi system (recommendation I found by wirecutter), so I knew exactly how much work this could be (and how many weekends it would occupy me). This time around I wanted to get help from someone who knew what they were doing and could do it much faster :). Jake was the right choice! He came by, quickly advised on a system (also recommended unifi), was very cool about re-using some of my old equipment, and honest about what would work well (and not) about some of my choices. He never pressured me and his quote was reasonable. Last: Jake was really on top of equipment availability which -- given current supply chain situation -- is not trivial for a lot of electronics. On the day of the job, he and his coworker showed up and dove right in. They were unintimidated by crawlspaces or attics, and found a way to get wiring to every place I wanted it with a super clean finish (and I'm really picky about the way that contractors finish jobs). We ended up with one minor drywall patch in order to make one of the runs down from the attic but -- given that we ran almost 1000ft of cat6 into 8 different rooms -- I was very impressed. I've been using the system for about 2 months now and am looking to have Jake and his team back to add more cameras.
